Dachshunds are affectionate dogs but they can be difficult to train and housebreak because they are a very stubborn breed. They are proud little dogs and are recommended for older children because they can become quite irritable and over protective. They cannot tolerate being handled by small children and may easily snap at them. They can become good watchdogs since they are naturally suspicious of strangers. Dachshunds love to be around people. They can be mischievous at times but they are loyal and friendly.
