There are three types of Poodles which are officially recognized by AKC—the Toy Poodle, Miniature Poodle, and Standard Poodle
Poodles possess remarkable intelligence which makes them one of the best dog breeds to train. They are highly sociable and love to be around people. They are lively and can be very amusing. They make good watchdogs but they can be timid and high-strung if they don’t receive enough exercise. Poodles have the tendency to develop dominant behavior if the owner fails to establish his dominance. A poodle can snap at people when they are made fun of or when surprised. Unless trained properly, they tend to bark a lot. They are highly adapted to living indoors but love to spend time playing outdoors. They are not as high-strung when they are given enough exercise. Since they are highly intelligent, they need lots of physical and mental stimulation to prevent them from getting bored and developing negative behaviors.
