The Chihuahua is a toy dog breed. It is extremely lively and has a cheerful disposition. Since it can be strong-willed, they need proper human leadership. In order to prevent “Small Dog Syndrome”, it should receive early socialization as a puppy. Chihuahuas may be difficult to housebreak without a firm training and lots of positive reinforcement. They are intelligent thus they can learn quickly. When allowed to dominate the household, it can develop bad habits such as jumping up on people and snapping at children. A Chihuahua living in an apartment should have daily walks to provide the exercise and mental stimulation that it needs.
