3. Doberman Pinscher

The Doberman Pinscher is believed to be a product of several dog breeds—Pinschers, Greyhounds, Rottweilers, and Beauceron. It is named after German Louis Dobermann who wanted to create an excellent guard dog to protect him from bandits. As the breed evolved, they worked best as police dogs, guard dogs, and watch dogs. In fact, they are considered as among the top guard dog breeds. They were trained to be ferocious yet many Doberman Pinschers are very gentle and docile. In fact they have been used as therapy dogs. They are very loyal to their master and other members of the pack. You may have read numerous stories about a Doberman aggressively protecting its master. Socialization is very important in order to avoid over-protectiveness and tendency to dominate. Since they are very sensitive to cold climate, Dobes are best kept inside the house. If they need to go outside for exercise or to attend to the call of nature, remember to let him inside soon after for they cannot withstand being out on a cold night for very long periods.
